It's Friday O'Clock Somewhere. Come On - Get Happy!
Our First Friday FUN Days are scheduled for 10/4/13 and 11/1/13. Join us from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in October for Hot Dog Happy Hour. And ride back in again in November for a Pizza Party. Both events are free but donations will be very happily received to support Team Palm Beach Bike Jockeys in our fundraising efforts for SMARTRide 2013. Interbike, Instagram and More!
If you already follow us on Twitter @OYMBike, Instagram oymbike, and Facebook oymcycling, then you probably know about our big trip out to Interbike International Bicycle Expo 2013 in Las Vegas last week. We saw tons of the latest & greatest bikes, gear and apparel. Did you catch all our live tweets and photos? Here's a few: Check out this improved (if that's possible) Ares4! The new large screen head unit from Cateye...

Stay Sun Safe
We found a great article on the Ironman website about sunscreen that you might want to check out. In short, you gotta wear sunscreen. Period. No arguments. Wear it every time you ride. No excuses. Make sure you apply a sweat or water-resistant sports formulated sunscreen (not a pore-clogging "sun block"). Re-apply at least every two hours. Put about two ounces on at home and be sure to bring it with...

Team in Training Fundraiser Event
Join us on Friday evening, August 23rd to celebrate the life of a treasured cycling friend by supporting the 25th anniversary of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. Dana was scheduled to ride in The Nation's Triathlon on September 8, 2013. Tragically, Dana lost his life this past July in a terrible bicycle collision with an animal that darted out into the spokes of his front wheel. He was catapulted over his handlebars and onto his helmet so fast that he had no time to brace himself for the fall. It was through cycling that Dana met his...

Electrolytes and Nutrition
Cyclists know that maintaining the proper balance of electrolytes is essential to our optimal physical performance. But have you ever stopped to wonder why this is so important? Electrolytes are minerals in our blood and body fluids that carry an electric charge. Some common examples of electrolytes include sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus and chloride. These minerals affect the amount of water in our bodies, our muscle function, the acidity or pH of our blood, and other important physical processes. Without electrolytes, the cells in our bodies can't communicate with each other to perform their essential functions. We need electrolytes...

Le Tour de France - 100 Years
Are you as nuts as we are to watch Le Tour de France every night after work? We're not getting tons of sleep, but we are having a great time! We've been brushing up a little on our Tour history. Here's a few cool facts we learned: The first race started on July 1, 1903 from Montgeron, France The inaugural event included 60 athletes Only 21 racers finished the six stages between Nantes - Paris (471 km) In 1910, mountains were added to the course Since 1936, Le Tour de France fans have enjoyed paid work holidays to support their favorite riders...
