Best Road Cycling Routes in Palm Beach County

Road cycling in Palm Beach County is genuinely good — better than most people outside the area realize. Flat roads, consistent weather most of the year, and some scenic stretches along the coast and inland waterways make this a solid place to ride. Here are the routes we recommend most often to customers, from quick spins to longer day rides.

Flagler Drive

This is the go-to for a quick, scenic ride out of downtown West Palm Beach. Flagler Drive runs along the Intracoastal Waterway with views of Palm Beach island across the water. It’s not a long route on its own, but it’s a great warm-up or cooldown stretch, and early mornings you’ll see plenty of other cyclists and runners out. Traffic is manageable if you go before rush hour.

Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail (LOST)

For riders who want distance, the paved loop around Lake Okeechobee is about 110 miles total — obviously not a day trip for most people, but sections of it are accessible and worth doing. The eastern edge along US-441 from Canal Point down is flat, quiet, and gives you a completely different side of South Florida than the coast.

Loxahatchee Groves and Western Communities

Head west on Southern Boulevard or Okeechobee Boulevard and you get into the agricultural flatlands — long straight roads, minimal traffic, and a lot of open sky. Riders who want to put in big miles without constant intersections love this area. Just carry enough water; there aren’t a lot of stops once you’re out there.

A1A Along the Coast

Jupiter down through Singer Island and Riviera Beach gives you ocean views and a mix of quiet stretches and busier sections. Early morning on weekends this corridor is packed with cyclists. It’s worth doing just for the scenery, but expect more traffic than the western routes.
