Best Local Trails and Routes for E-Bikes in South Florida

One of the best things about riding an e-bike in South Florida is how much more ground you can cover. Routes that would be too long or too hot on a regular bike become manageable with pedal assist. Here are the trails and routes we recommend most often for e-bike riders in the area — along with some notes on where e-bikes are and aren’t permitted.

Know Before You Go

Florida treats Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes similarly to regular bicycles on public roads and most paved multi-use paths. However, some natural surface trails and state park trail systems prohibit e-bikes or restrict them to specific classes. Always check the rules for the specific trail you’re planning before you go.

Paved Paths: Flagler Drive and the Intracoastal

The waterfront path along Flagler Drive in West Palm Beach is a great e-bike route — flat, scenic, and easy to extend north toward Riviera Beach or south toward the downtown areas. Class 1 and 2 e-bikes are welcome on these paths. The assist makes it easy to cover the full corridor and still have energy left for the return trip.

Lake Trail, Palm Beach

Cross the bridge to Palm Beach and pick up the Lake Trail — a mostly car-free 6-mile loop around the north end of the island along the Intracoastal. It’s quiet, beautiful, and on an e-bike you can loop it multiple times without fatigue. One of the most enjoyable flat rides in the area.

Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail (LOST)

For riders who want serious distance, the paved sections of the LOST around Lake Okeechobee are ideal for e-bikes. The flat terrain and long stretches between stops are where pedal assist really shines — you can comfortably cover 30–50 miles on a charge and take in some genuinely remote Florida scenery.

Coastal A1A

The A1A corridor from Jupiter south through Singer Island offers ocean views and good pavement. On an e-bike you can cover more of the coastline in one ride than most people do on a regular bike. Morning rides on weekends before traffic builds are ideal.

Don’t own an e-bike yet? You can rent one and explore these routes before you buy. When you’re ready, browse our e-bike selection or get more detail on our electric bikes page.
